Scott Summers, known as Cyclops, is a founding member and long-time leader of the X-Men. He is a mutant with the power to emit powerful optic blasts of concussive force from his eyes. He cannot control these beams without the aid of his ruby quartz visor or glasses.
Orphaned at a young age after a parachute accident, Scott and his brother Alex (Havok) were separated. Scott was eventually taken in by Professor Charles Xavier, who recognized his potential and helped him develop control over his powers (to some extent) and become a hero.
